I am absolutely disappointed with the meal my partner and I ordered off skip the dishes. We ordered two beef pho, only to both open up a small container with a fist full of noodles that were chopped up, and a small container of broth. Considering we are paying $20 each for a bowl of soup that probably costs $8.00, the portions are EXTREMELY small. About half the size compared to everywhere else in town. For someone who lived in Vietnam for almost two years and has experience eating lots of pho, even the broth tasted like bland salted water. I’m not one to complain publicly, but what put me over the edge was how the owner treated me when I expressed myself regarding my order. Her tone was very rude and didn’t apologize or anything, just told me that this is how they’ve been doing it the last 10 years. Needless to say, I’ve been a customer of Woking Bird for many years, as I enjoy their noodle bowl. But after my experience, I won’t be returning.

Ordered special soup from Skip, the wrong order was delivered with someone else's order number on the bag. When I called to let them know, the situation was immediately escalated by the owner. It was a simple mistake, but everyone from me, the app, my husband, to the poor delivery driver was blamed. Why did I have to spend 30 min on the phone just to get the food I ordered? Why did I have to raise my voice just to keep from being constantly interrupted? They finally sent the soup after the worst phone call I've had to experience. The soup is good, but there are other soup places in town who won't put you through hell over their own mistake.

Worst chinese food I’ve literally ever had in my life. The “chow mein” had the nastiest hard/chewy noodles… there was also hardly any noodles thank god because they were horrific. Maybe this is what people in Thunder Bay consider Chinese food I don’t know… but it’s TERRIBLE. TERRIBLE. $63 for a dinner for two of the worst pile of slop I’ve ever had. Do yourself a favour and just don’t.

Here's the deal with Roosters Bistro - we drove all the way from the Twin Cities to get some real deal Canadian poutine and the locals we knew in Thunder Bay said Roosters is the place and, folks, they weren't wrong it was AMAZING. perfect gravy, curds melted and the fries (!!) a real treat. We also split a breakfast burrito. That's right we had poutine for breakfast. No idea if that's normal or not they didn't blink when we ordered. Great vibes in this place. Would poutine again.

If you're looking for the most Roosters per square foot (rpsf) this is the place. Food is pretty good. Coffee is terrible but it's standard bottomless diner grade. Great that it has one of the three patios in town.

Went here this morning with my friends to grab breakfast and we were 6 in number. Our waitress was just so wonderful! Service was just great and so quick. The portions too were so large. when I ordered the heat seeker, I had them add bacon and sausages. When the meal came out, I wished I had just ordered it without the extra addictions because it was so large. I was full and I was given the option to take the rest away. The breakfast and hot chocolate was just deliciously divine! I will be back I really like spicy food when I can get it and when I ordered the heat seeker, I was thinking well it probably won't be spicy but it was surprisingly great and spicy! I LOVED it! Not the kind of spicy that stresses you out but you enjoy. So I really enjoyed it! We will be back!

I knew this place was going to be good when I saw the squeeze bottle ketchup, salt, pepper and jelly basket on the table. It lived up to all that and so much more. I had the Spanish omelette. Both potatoes, omelette and even toast were very generous. The toast came pre-buttered which is always a plus in my book. The service was fast and friendly. The place was very clean. Looks like it was an old dunkin' donuts or something. If you're looking for breakfast all day long in thunder Bay, make this your first stop and your second, third and fourth stop. My only regret is I'm only passing through thunder Bay and only had a chance to enjoy this place once.

Awesome service. We ordered breakfast and ate outside on the picnic tables. Waitress brought out orders out to us and one of the friendly kitchen staff brought out some bacon for the dog

A must have breakfast that i would not want to share. Service was excellent, the waitresses never let me see the bottom of my coffee mug. The portions were perfect, hearty meals. It is very clean and I would go back anytime. Lastly, the pie. Homemade delicious pies that are perfect for any occasion.

I stayed the last two nights and the first night had the burger and last night had the meatloaf special. Staff was exceptionally friendly, one girl seemed to be off work last night chatting with some regulars and just seemed to be very customer service oriented. The girl working the cash was very friendly and kept asking if my food was good. The gentleman who I think was the owner walked around and made sure everyone was satisfied and this place seems to really get the customer service end of the business. They were Def the talk of the town and well known for their good eats. Very pleased and would def go back again if ever in town. Great place and a must eat at if passing through.

Was on my way home from skiing on a Sunday evening. Wanted Thai food but the place I was recommended/would typically go (Thai Kitchen) isn’t open on Sunday’s. Unfortunately, this place was. Order pad thai over the phone for pickup. At $22.50, it’s more expensive than Thai Kitchen by quite a bit but my options are limited and I’m hungry. Pick it up, get home and open the box to find what is essentially a regular stir fry with about a pound of bell peppers and onion on top, and some cashews, plus the tofu and noodles. Call the restaurant to let them know my orders’ wrong, and they inform me that it’s ‘their take on a pad thai’. …what?? No bean sprouts, no peanuts, no scrambled egg, and their ‘pad thai sauce’ just tastes like somehow worse VH sauce from the store. The noodles are congealed at the bottom, with half of them not having any sauce at all. What it boils down to is that it’s not pad thai, it has none of the components that would make it pad thai. At best, it’s a poorly done regular stir fry. The rep, who was rude the whole time, tells me that it is pad thai and that just because I don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s not pad thai. He said they’ve changed all these components for ‘allergy purposes’. I tell him none of this is on their website, nor in the menu, and they can’t just change every part of a dish and call it the same thing. I ask for a refund, and tell them that this isn’t what I ordered. I’ll waste my time/money, bring it back, and go somewhere else, or they can make an actual pad thai. He refuses telling me they don’t do refunds, and that not liking it isn’t a valid reason anyway. I tell him that beyond not liking it; it’s not what I ordered. We do a little more back and forth before he says something like. I’m not going to change my mind, and you won’t be getting a refund or another meal, so there’s no point to continuing this conversation. At this point the conversation ends. I don’t typically leave reviews, but the terrible customer service from this place convinced me otherwise. Especially when there are so many quality alternatives. Honestly, Thai Express does a better pad thai at half the cost. Thai Kitchen does an amazing pad thai at slightly more than half the cost. With the multitude of other options, I really can’t understand why anyone would go here. To the owners, good luck.

The lemon chicken and the fried rice here is amazing! Definitely a comfort food for me. The Vietnamese spring rolls were also amazing and perfectly crispy! Would definitely go back for these dishes!

Zero rating . I called to order fried rice and asked to put extra scrambled egg and the told me straight no . I dont mind if they charge me extra . Me and my boyfriend always ordered from here and asked for it they always use to do . I person i spoke to was not even saying okay let me see or ask or even put efforts to fulfill my request . He is like straight no . Thats not how you attend a customer . I also worked in customer service fir 7 to 8 years so rude . I will never order here also Pho Umami is soo much better than them . Huh .

A great little gem of a place to eat. Clean and neat. Very nice staff. Food was served hot and on time. Reasonable prices for most dishes. Worth a try if your looking for a place to dine. The pad thai has there own twist and it works well. I will return again for more great food. Update! Got the dinner for 6 and wow was so good! All food was pipping hot and fresh came to about $120 clams but we had left overs for 2 days that depends on you family size.... we have 5. Well worth it and will order again!

Went for brunch with my family. It was a full house bit the staff did an excellent job of getting us seated and fed quickly. The food never disappoints. I’m literally kicking myself for not trying the chicken and waffle Benedict. Glad that there will definitely be a next time! Lots of parking. Clean washrooms. Very friendly staff.

Great place with good food and service. One of the main thing that I noticed is quantity of food which is really more than we pay. Most of the starters are kinda like a whole meal and its really good price too. All the drinks and food that we tried was really tasty too. The Korean Cauliflower bites, Nachos chips and the Garlic bread with tomatoes and meat was my favourite from all. Everyone loved the food. Will really recommend this place to give a try for sure.

Food was good. The service was really good as well. The atmosphere is ok. The waiter was really nice and our food came really quick. It's a good place to eat. The portions are really good too. I ordered the Brioche french toast which was good but I ordered the omelette as an extra side because I thought the French toast might not be a decent portion however the French toast came out a huge portion and my omelette was a large side so I couldn't finish my meal but at least I could take the rest away. My friends ordered the Poutine bowl and Finn pancakes. They loved their orders too. Really good food.

Had their chicken and waffles Benedict and like always it was amazing, they do put a hot sauce on it so if you do not like heat I'm sure they would leave it off for you. My daughter had fin pancakes with ham and she like it.

The servers are approachable, friendly, and attentive. The food is incredibly phenomenal and super fresh. I was so impressed by the huge portion of the food I got. After the meal, I got a free apple from the servers. Golden Wok is definitely my go-to restaurant in town. 5 starsssssssssssss

It looks very good. It doesn't have the pure taste of Vietnamese noodles. The beef is very dry and woody, and the fried food is okay. It feels like the boss has been away from Vietnam for too many years. The taste is average, but there are not many other options in the local area.

Looking for some good Vietnamese food in Thunder Bay, you gotta eat here. Although unassuming at first glance, just step inside this restaurant. Friends server and staff who can tell what’s really great on the menu. The noodle bowl was overflowing with delicious ingredients. I ended up bringing half of it home for tomorrow’s lunch. This place is bustling so you know the locals love it. The lone server was working hard to make everyone happy and he did a great job. I will definitely come back when I am in town!

A Finnish breakfast and lunch restaurant with plenty of breakfast options and some lunch specials. We ordered some omelet combos and pancakes. Food was okay, nothing wow about them. The ambience was not like usual breakfast places, it was quite dim and gloomy and slow paced.

Delicious lunch and excellent service from their top-notch hostess and waitress. Wish I would have got their names. I was excited to try some FINNISH PANCAKES (kind of like crepes) and they didn’t disappoint. My wife got a burger, fry, and pie and was happy with her choice also. We came on a Sunday morning, they're very busy but you know that's always a good sign. We didn't have to wait to long to be seated as there wasn't any available tables when we got there. Our waitress was very friendly and courteous and it just plain felt like you were talking to a family member. I ordered one of the specials, back bacon with 2 eggs, toast and home fries. My dad ordered a clubhouse sandwich with fries and gravy. Both were absolutely phenomenal and really hit the spot. If you're looking for a good ma & pa home cooked breakfast then look no further than Niva's!! You don't be disappointed I can assure you of this. If you are you then have no taste buds in my humble opinion.
