We love Tongue in Cheek! It’s quickly becoming our new special occasion restaurant! For a true treat, try their tasting menu. We’ve had it once so far and it was delicious. And incredible experience. We’ve also had amazing brunch there. Their cocktail flight is a fun way to try lots of their great cocktails. My fave is the Mother of Dragons. Exceptional service!

This is a great date night spot. Great atmosphere and menu! I highly recommend the fries, jerk cauliflower and the pad thai salad. We ordered a variety of shareables and enjoyed everything! Service was top notch. Our server gave great recommendations!

Went for dinner on a Friday night and reservations were almost out. Had to get an 8pm reservation for the dining room. The appetizers were great! The watermelon salad was nice and refreshing. The cauliflower was actually the star of the entire night. Unfortunately, the entrées were just subpar. The vegetarian ramen was very sweet which was completely unexpected in an unpleasant way. Would not recommend that dish. The fried rice with mushrooms (forgot the name.. Maybe the Vegasm?) was just fine. Very strong on the shiitake. There's a free lot behind the building for parking but beware that there are limited spaces. Seems like most people park on the street but we were able to secure the last spot in the lot.

We had an overall good experience with a few critiques. Our sever was very attentive and nice. However, the service was slow. We waited 30min for the appetizer and 1hr for our entrees. Our reservation was set for 7:30 and we didn’t get our entrees until 8:45. For appetizer, we got the jerk roasted cauliflower and it was the best cauliflower we’ve ever had! For entrees we got the classic ramen with crispy chicken and pan roasted pork belly. The ramen had a weird, somewhat fishy, smell and taste to it that wasn’t pleasant for either of us. It wasn’t overwhelming so we tried to look past it as we ate it. That taste seemed to go away the more we ate it. The pork belly was delicious. My wife didn’t like the fattiness texture of the pork belly but the taste of the sauce, fried vegetables, and belly was good.

I don’t personally understand the hype, or the prices. The pork belly was very good but not as good as it’s cost. The service and the vibes are nice…cool looking place with interesting aesthetics but after having my overall experience it’s a bit overrated imo. Maybe I’ll have to try the brunch…

The ambiance was lovely and the service was great. We were seated right away, checked on frequently and the food was great. Our group got the wings, brussel sprouts, salmon, the pasta with lobster and they brought me a bday dessert. Very friendly servers And a fully stocked bar! Would go back!

Nice little gem in the Intercontinental St Paul hotel. They close at 11, but accommodated our entire group, despite arriving at 10:50! Was pretty surprised with the food, it was pretty tasty! A little disappointed with how small the fresh fruit cup was considering the price, but the staple breakfast items were killer! Prices were otherwise pretty reasonable.

Wanted to order off the menu but not given the chance and was told to eat at the buffet. Really curious as to why there is a breakfast menu when that is not an option. I just paid $26.97 for scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes. Wanted to order the steak and eggs for approximately the same price but apparently this was all they had to offer. Free ice tea was cool but definitely will not be back. Hopefully the super nice waitress can work somewhere with a real menu that they can offer to customers.

We had breakfast here and can't say enough about the food, staff and service. The omelettes are delicious, as well as the roasted potatoes on the side. Our server, Chelsea, was very attentive and friendly. The only downside about our experience - which had nothing to do with the restaurant or staff - was a rude couple sitting nearby that did nothing to keep their screaming, unruly child in check. Mom was "busy" with her phone, Dad was just ignoring the whole thing. They left a huge mess on the floor and had the nerve to complain about the staff. I know this because a supervisor came to our table to apologize for the experience, and to apologize for her staff. No apologies were necessary; they provided excellent service and food. There are just rude people out there that we have no control over. Bottom line, I highly recommend the Citizen!

We were relatives of the groom who said flying in from Montana was a great idea. Every thing was so perfect (they were right) until the manager of this restaurant went walking by our table talking loudly about another table and what they “looked like”. It was the most disrespectful thing I’ve ever experienced, it makes me wonder what kind of place is this, that the lead person talks trash about the customers. I well. Not be going back, and I’ll never suggest this place to any one.

Stopped in for a quick breakfast. Sat immediately, beverages delivered and orders taken. Food received in a timely fashion. Everything was delicious. Try the caramel rolls! They are warm and amazing.

Food definitely was the best part of the experience, but the overall vibe I got was not the best. I came alone and it was not very busy but I felt that I was being ignored? so that was a bit confusing to me. I ordered a matcha latte and one of their “famous” omelets, The Loon, I believe it was called. It was pretty good tbh, on the heavy side, but the service rubbed me the wrong way. I noticed several staff members walking about checking on tables, inquiring on how their meals were, but not even ONCE did any of them come by to ask me, not even my waitress. Halfway through my omelet, she stopped by to give me a to go box and the check yet I never asked? Other than that I actually never saw her again except when she was speaking to other tables, checking in w them and such. I had planned to order something sweet following my meal but I honestly felt I was being rushed out. And again, I WAS DINING ALONE. Honestly the food wasn’t half bad and the jam was delicious but simply considering how I felt during my first trip here, I wouldn’t return. Not sure what the issue was but it was not attentive at all.

Great food as always. I had the Eggs Benedict this time and my daughter had the Mickey Cake (obviously loved it with all the whipped cream and m&m's. There was seats available immediately when we walked in, however it can get pretty busy on Saturday or Sunday mornings. I do wish that they had the Country Fried Steak that some of the other locations have... regardless, a great place to get some good breakfast.

This location is cute. I enjoy the atmosphere here. The staff not so much. Long wait times for drinks, it wasn't busy so I'm not sure why the wait was so long. Long wait times for refills and the check. I love the Red Cow brand so I'll be back to see if I have a different experience but for now, it was disappointing. The food was fantastic, I was satisfied on that end. It took a lot to get the satisfaction. When I visited the avenue was under construction so parking was a huge bear. This establishment shares a neighborhood with many popular spots and you can easily spend 15 minutes looking for decent parking. Plan to arrive really early if you have a reservation. Outside eating is available and it's popular at this location but the bar is a highlight at this location as well so you gotta be prepared either way. I'll be back!

After a twenty minute wait to seat a party of four, we each treated ourselves to a spectacular, delicious meal. I personally got the Breakfast burger which came with bacon and egg upon two patties slathered in peanut butter presented like a sourdough melt, paired with a side of tots and a glass of Cline Farmhouse red blend. It was a delectable journey of hedonistic proportions. While waiting for our meal, we shared some scotch eggs that left us very impressed and impatient for the main course to come. Overall, everything was so good and I can't wait to come back and try the rest of their menu.

I tried the Nashville hot stix. Food was very hot and fresh. Spice wise the tenders weren’t spicy at all which is not a bad thing. The dipping sauce was actually pretty good. My only complaint would be that there was way too much seasoning on the tenders. Same thing with the fries. If you take away the excess seasoning this meal would have been much better.

I've been here a few times and of course ordered a burger. Well this time I went for drinks and came out a fan!! We sat at the bar where the drinks were strong and came with a smile. We ended up staying for lunch and I'm glad we did! The food was really good and so was our server. All of the servers actually stopped and chatted with us. We ordered a few things to share and they were all pretty darn good!! The bathroom wasn't as clean as I'd hoped but nothing to hold it for, for sure. I'll definitely be back to enjoy the patio!!

Red Cow on Selby is always delicious- we go usually once a month! But I wanted to write a review because tonight we got takeout and it was absolutely outstanding. Whoever was on the line absolutely crushed it! Everything was seasoned perfectly and tasted amazing. Really appreciated that they packaged the sauces for the buffalo cauliflower separately so it wouldn’t get soggy. Lastly, the coleslaw was so good! Again, perfectly balanced and delicious. Whether it’s takeout or dining in, we’ve never been disappointed.

Lawd...wish I had looked deeper into the reviews before ordering. Only thing good on this plate was the yams. Mac n cheese: dry. Rice: unseasoned and undercooked. Smothered chicken: just shy of okay. Jerk chicken: spicy yes but that’s it. Making something spicy isn’t seasoning. Pepper is not “spice”. Unseasoned. And it honestly chewed like rubber. I tasted Angelea’s soul food in BP and I thought it would be the same but sadly ... it’s WAY off.

Super impressed with the Buttered Tin after my first time here—it lived up to the hype! The delicious breakfast set us up for a wonderful day. I highly recommend the cinnamon roll; they’ve got the ooey gooey, fluffy, and chewy texture down to a science, and it still feels homemade. The Damn Good Breakfast Sandwich was also delicious—simple, but very well-executed. The breakfast burrito was huge, so be prepared if you order that. Service was friendly and quick! Overall, the atmosphere was cozy and memorable. The option to sit outside in the shade in Lowertown was very enjoyable on a Sunday morning in June. Based on aroma and what they had on display, it seems baked goods are their strong suit. Can’t wait to be back to try more of the menu, especially the lunch items like the pot roast sandwich. It actually wasn’t too busy when we went around 1pm: about a 5 minute wait in line to order. Please do yourself a favor and give The Buttered Tin a try if you’re considering!

Definitely an awesome breakfast spot!! Lots of great options! And the staff were all SO kind! The food was a little pricey, but it was worth it. Excellent breakfast burrito and parfait. The pecan coffee cake was TO DIE FOR. The bathrooms were clean. The restaurant was quiet and calm. Definitely will be back!

We’ve been here multiple times but for some reason I’ve never done a review. Hit them up after our walk at the farmers market today. Had their fruit pie of the day - blueberry. OMG this was so good. Pie crust was so thin and flaky, the pie itself still was a little warm. Not overly sweet, was so good. For food I had the biscuits and gravy with the poached eggs. This was good, but the gravy was unfortunately not my favorite. There is onion and celery in the gravy which gives it a little odd flavor to me. Hubs had the burrito - said it was really good - only issue was that all the meat and beans were on one side and the eggs and rice were on the other. Brought home a couple of their day old cookies - these were so good!!!

The Buttered Tin is a blend of restaurant and bakery. The food is well-prepared, unique, and delicious! But the ordering process is uncomfortable on the busy weekends because you have to stand in line (upwards of 20 minutes) to place an order.

This place is unique in that it is counter order, table served. The food is freshly cooked, menu has unique takes on breakfast favorites and the price is affordable all while supporting their workers with a living wage. Recommendations: Buttered Tin “Pot Roast” Hash, Biscuit Sammie, Hand Pie and Cinnamon Roll. Disappointments: Cake. It looked way better than it actually tasted (Hen House still reigns supreme for cake!). The Iced Pressed Coffee was a noticeably small portion for the price when compared to iced coffee from elsewhere. Meritage is simply one of our top 3 favourite restaurants and/or Bars in the world. Having been fortunate enough to eat and drink at many lovely places in many countries, we just always compare them to Meritage in St Paul. Food is exquisite and the cocktails are spectacular. Thank you John, Alex and Justin for all of your cocktail advice. (our other favourite places would be the American Bar at the Savoy in London and The Buddha bar in Paris). Meritage holds such wonderful memories for us. My wife proposed to me there, we have taken our children, we ate there the night my wife went to hospital to have our baby and we drank Champagne with everyone else at the bar to celebrate. We have eaten there with many groups of friends and made friends there, we've eaten in the bar, in the dining room and outside. It's all wonderful. Meritage is one of those places that does everything right.

Had an exquisite experience here at Meritage. So many good options and variety in the menu and I’ll definitely go back to try their platters. I love the ambiance and the service too. Not too long of a wait and the staff asures us that we aren’t forgotten by giving us updates abt our table while we’re waiting at the bar. The cocktails are amazing! We tried 6 and everytime the drink arrives it just keeps getting better. It’s a very date night vibe kind of place but not awkward for non-date patrons as well.

1st time back after the pandemic (10/25/23): really good foods, and dessert (the Creme Brulé is incredible). The service remains top notch. I forgot how loud this place is! The server offered to lower the music volume when we mentioned it. Pros: fantastic and attentive service thank you Katie E and our hostess), good French foods. The cappuccino came out lukewarm, and were remade. My cassoulet was good and the pomme frite is always a hit for me. My friend really enjoyed the French Onion soup. Could be improved: the salmon from my wife's salad tasted quite salty (was it brined?). Still, this is one of our place to go to when we crossed the river to StP.

Went out for Valentine's Day. We sat in the back Medoc Room (party room) because we added another person to our reservation and couldn't do the dining room area anymore. Our reservation was pushed up to 4 pm instead of 6 pm which was fine. This worked out great because we felt like we had the room mostly to ourselves for 2 hours. We tried the oysters and mussels which was wonderful. We also ordered the Chef's 5 course dinner for the rest of the evening. The courses were small and we were slightly disappointed. I think we paid for the service more than the food. Service was phenomenal. Total cost: $540, we tipped $60 = $600.
