Excellent restaurant with friendly and helpful staff. Wanted to get some seafood while in Newport and this was one of the top suggestions in the area and it didn't leave us disappointed. The clam chowder was creamy and excellent. Had a prix fixe menu which was a great bang for your buck. The shrimp and grits were quite tasty and the shrimp were huge and fresh. The pork was cooked well and had good flavor. Salads were excellent with nice dressings.

I discovered this place by doing a Google search for the best restaurants, and I am glad that I got a chance to eat here on my last night staying in Newport. Everything about this restaurant from the ambiance to the food is truly fantastic. The hostess that seated me was warm and welcoming, and my server (whom I didn't get a name) was friendly and very attentive. They have a great sized, reasonably priced menu, which includes Prix Fixe items that are served Sunday through Thursday from open to close. I ordered the New England Clam Chowder, the Pan Seared Cod, and Olive Oil Cake, and everything was fresh and delicious. The cod, which was the highlight of the meal, was so soft, flaky, and moist. The bartender can also whip up a great cocktail as well. The restaurant itself seems quite large and is kept very clean. They also have outdoor dining as well. Overall, I was very pleased with my first experience here over this past weekend, and I will be sure to stop in again the next time I visit the Newport area.

The soup of the day was corn chowder and it was great! Lobster and duck quesadilla also was delicious. We enjoyed the cocktails. I didn’t like wedge salad - I just don’t like such type of salads. The service was fast and the staff is friendly and attentive to us. The prices are moderate. The place is clean and everything has a high quality. The restaurant was overcrowded, it’s better to order a table in advance.

While visiting Newport, this spot was recommended by a friend, as well as a tour guide from earlier in our day. Additionally, the Duck and Lobster Quesadilla was highly recommended. Everything was fine. The food was well prepared and the atmosphere was great. There was a bit of confusion with the "Bartender's Beer of the Day", where it was admittedly mismarked; however, that did not stop them from selling the incorrect beer and doubling down on the mistake. Overall, a great time and one I would recommend to those visiting the area.

We received a recommendation to sample their tacos, and my husband and I absolutely adored them. We polished them off in less than 10 minutes! It's funny because we initially came with the intention of trying lobster roll, but to our surprise, it wasn't on the menu. However, we have zero regrets about trying their tacos. You should definitely give them a try! We're already planning to return and explore more of their menu on our next visit to Newport.

I had a fantastic experience at Diego’s! The host was incredibly kind and took the time to explain the wait time. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of my visit. The drinks were exceptional, and the appetizers were delightful. The fresh guacamole was a highlight. I can’t wait to return for another wonderful dining experience!

We came here for lunch after trying their food at the Seafood Festival yesterday and it was delicious yet again. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the food. We (the two of us) had fish tacos, a barbacoa burrito, and the street corn. The host was super friendly and the inside decor was so interesting!

Great food, great drinks, great service. It was a fun night for a great Mexican dinner. Guacamole, salsa, chips, tacos, and burritos were all excellent. It's definitely worth a visit. Sorry for the lack of photos....after 3 margaritas, I'm pretty useless....too funny....

Did some extensive research to find places that are great to eat at while on a quick trip to Newport! Diego’s was mentioned in many articles, so decided to give it a try. The staff is great, the atmosphere is awesome with the skull motif and rock music. The food, is not great. As a native New Yorker, this should’ve had alarm bells ringing in my head once I decided to walk into a Mexican fusion-y type place. The sautéed calamari I tried was basically tomato water. It was neither sweet nor spicy which is how the menu described it to be. If it was neither one of those, fine. But it lacked the most basic of seasonings. Not a hint of salt nor pepper. We had to ask for hot sauce, and all they had was cholula. It was literally squid in water with tomato essence. And when it came to our table it had a distinct fishy smell, so I will NOT be surprised if I suddenly came down with food poisoning tomorrow. I struggled to finish because I was going to pay for it anyways. The spicy crab rangoons were decent, but once again, not spicy. They lacked any sort of distinct flavor, the only saving grace was the sauce that came with it, and even that is pushing it. The tacos?! My partner got ahi tuna poke tacos, I got fish tacos. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt but I couldn’t even finish them. Red bell peppers in tacos? I should’ve just paid and booked it but I tried to finish. Sangria tasted like juice and water. Decent atmosphere and staff, absolutely abysmal food. I have NO idea how people call this the best Mexican food they’ve ever had, it’s like they watched a cartoon WikiHow on what Mexicans eat and took it from there.

Buonissimo!!! After living in Italy for 3 years it’s hard to enjoy Italian food in the states. But we appreciate the local and authentic Italian feels of this family owned business. The wine menu is great, and the ingredients fresh and flavorful. The service was impeccable and despite not having a reservation the owner was very happy to accommodate a table for us as long as we could finish our meal in time for the party who had reserved it — this wasn’t a problem for us and we felt grateful to appreciate a delicious Italian meal amid a warm atmosphere. We will definitely return and are glad we found this gem in our new town!

A truly 5 star experience. Every aspect of our dinner was perfect. The cozy interior, our caring waitress, and the wonderful food. We ordered the Italian cheese platter for an appetizer which was delicious. My meal, the ravioli di zucca, was flavorful and calming. I absolutely loved Mamma Luisa; it was a perfect experience, with authentic Italian setting. How peaceful and comforting this hidden gem is!

Sorprendente. Truly amazing. Warm, delicious, kind and professional. I would say that it is like eating at your Italian grandma’s house but your Italian grandma never made food this good!! I must say that everything was really good but the gnocchi were amazing. The service was exceptional also. I think my favorite thing was that we were the last table to leave and we really didn’t want to leave but everyone was so friendly even though we were probably slowing them all down from going home!

Food was just as delicious, but the service and atmosphere were bad. Service - There were open spots everywhere, we made a request to sit somewhere other than next to the bathroom but was denied. When we left, there were still open tables available. Waitress took the wine menu away to where we had to ask for it again. Atmosphere - Waitress and staff needs to more friendly, people oriented. If you make the place cozy and warmth, have your staff be same. You allow guests to casual attires to the restaurant than don't make it stuffy. Great food but they killed the vibes. Mamma definition should be warmth and happy.

I have a big family and it’s nice that they have 4 restaurants to pick from and I love that when you order online, it’s grouped in 1 order so my fam can pick whichever place they want and I don’t have to order separately. Very good food and worth the price. Ps- the Elvis is amazing!!

Me and a few others walked in and asked if we could sit outside on the patio and have a drink. The people at the entrance gave us a blank stare and said “the kitchen is closed”. We said that’s okay we would just like a drink. They both seemed confused but said sure. The drinks were good but on our bill they included a “love for the kitchen” gratuity which was annoying considering we had 1 drink each and the kitchen was closed.

The ambiance is perfect, lots of windows an urban flare. The staff is great. My appetizer Soft Shell Crab was excellent. Cocktail nice. However, my choice of entree Pork Malanese was good, tender...too much fat, hold back the Lima Beans ☺ . The side of fried rice would have been good, nicely made with lots of bacon, but too dry for my taste. Overall, it's a great place, will definitely come back. A must dine here.

Lovely outdoor patio, best for evening dining in the summer. Service was good. the entrees are limited, but I think this represented the chef's desire to do a few things well. Our appetizers were well prepared and seasoned. Prices are a little higher than most on Thames, but quality is higher too.

In the middle of the square, this place is a gem. The decor is high end, elegant, clean, fresh and relaxing. The food was superb. I had the lobster roll and it was really good. Cocktails are amazing. The service was above average. Our server did not rush us, kept us always hydrated. Overall, great experience and I highly recommend this place.

Four stars for the location and ambience. Four stars for most dishes and five stars for the staff for their friendliness. Three star for the prices! We went for a Sunday brunch. All dishes we tried were good except for the French toast. It was definitely not one of the best that I had before. Salmon cake was great. They also have kids menu. The prices are very high. Minimum 15 dollars for a small size cocktail. 24 dollars for a regular brunch dish.

This restaurant has a lovely classic Newport interior and delicious locally sourced food. We were in a hurry to make a sailboat ride and they had our food out within 15 minutes of ordering. Our waiter was very courteous and made us feel welcome here. I had the quiche of the day which contained goat cheese and came with fresh greens. It truly was a delight to eat here!

We were seated quickly on a Friday. The dreamsicle cocktail 🍸 intrigued me. There is no orange in the mix, and instead used a combo of cherry and lime. It tasted like an orange dreamsicle and the ingredients at the same time. I would recommend it. I enjoyed some seafood with lobster and corn fritters followed by the moules frites. The frites stole the show for me. They were the right blend of crispy and saltiness. The mussels and fritters were good as well. The frites had little chunks of lobster. The mussels On the land loving end, the French onion had a rich broth and a good balance of onions, bread and cheese. The steak and frites were good.

Beautiful restaurant and good service. The prices are on the higher end. The food was good but not exceptional. We ordered a lobster roll and the stake frites. A cocktail and a soft drink. The lobster was good but a bit salty, it came with a nice small side salad. The steak was undercooked, we ordered it medium well and it was more like a medium rare but the taste was good. The cocktail was very nice. No free refills on soft drinks and it is served in a small glass. They served us room temperature water, we asked for ice and they brought some. They did serve complimentary bread and salted tomatoes before the meal came. Very small list of desserts. We did not order one. Would go back and give it another chance.

We waited forever for our hamburger and fries and when we finally got it, it were raw. My husband's was so raw it looked like we just bought it at the store. Meanwhile waiting for our new burgers, we noticed several other people getting there burgers. Some sending them back. We decided to leave and the waitress comes with our burgers with the question. Do you want them to go? Seriously! The view is beautiful, however!

Slow. Slow. Slow. There is a reason that this place is a quiet restaurant in the middle of the busiest tourist part of Newport. The food isn't good. Small menu that is expensive even for the tourist area. Salad with chicken was $15. Small portion with few of the strawberries and other goodies that were supposed to be in it. Hamburgers are $18. Soup was good at $9. Oh and they charged me $2 for the bread I requested. Seating is on the water and pretty. Not sure why the service was so slow. They had lots of waiters and not that many customers. Trust me. Go somewhere else.

My classic margarita was perfect. Lord knows I love Don Julio and my friend had the aquidneck slide which was a mudslide with ice cream of course. We locals do enjoy a good mudslide and that one knocked it out of the park. My only gripe would be our bartender was not very friendly and there was an obnoxious black lab in the outdoor seating area kept barking. I love dogs but seriously why must they be everywhere on this island?

This was just okay IMO. The hostess seated us right away and we liked that we were brought upstairs. The server who helped us began our interaction by saying hello then saying we aren't her table, sorry, bye. Then she came back and was like oh well forget it I'll just help you. That was awkward and I hope it was a one off for that person and not a habit of theirs. The food was overpriced for what it was. I got a huge bowl of pasta that was mostly cheese and noodles. When we went to pay the server then informed us that there's a 3% fee for using a credit card. I've got to say, that felt a little smarmy. This is a pseudo upscale place that is clearly a tourist trap. We had to keep our day moving so we tried it, and I'm sure that's a good portion of how they get those booths full. I met a German family in CA a couple weeks ago and they were concerned that America is going cashless and they only brought cash for their trip. How interesting to go to RI and find that I am penalized for using credit. That just left a sour taste in my mouth- I have never been to a restaurant with a $75 bill and be told I have to cover the credit fee. Even gas stations just ask for a $5 minimum. Totally nuts.

The best Lobster bisque I have tried. The one with lobster in it. Went on a weekday less busy. Window sitting was nice. The lobster roll was just as good. Large building in the corner can't miss it. Great service ! Enjoyed the meal.

We stopped in for lunch and were able to be seated right away by a most charming and very friendly hostess. This blond sweetie was the best part of our RPR experience. I actually told her that when we left. Our server, Amy P, was far less friendly and far less enthusiastic about us being there or perhaps even her job. I attempted to make friendly chit chat with her (we are from Georgia) but with no reciprocation whatsoever. She had to be flagged down for whatever we were looking for, water, salad dressing, a glass of wine. The young man working the bar on the other hand, was equally enjoying his day job as was the hostess. If we were to return we’d likely sit at the bar instead. I ordered a Caesar salad with salmon and my hubby ordered the tropical salad with chicken. Amy forgot his dressing request (and nowhere to be seen to remind her) until he was just about done with his salad. The croutons were extremely stale on both our salads which….not a good back of the house sign, IMO. I can’t say we’ll go back. Very disappointing.

Good variety of food ordered, from chicken to lobster quesadillas. Calamari was delicious. Someone ordered a lobster Caesar salad, and mentioned that there was a little too much dressing premixed in the salad that was overpowering the overall taste. Edit: hours later the same person that had the salad had terrible food poisoning. I felt a little queasy in the evening as I remember trying some of that dish as well.

Lobster roll was amazing. My mother had the fish and chips and loved it. And my mother doesn’t like the taste of fish if that tells you anything. Portions were generous and the staff was very knowledgeable about the menu. Very good experience.
