09/28/2023: I popped in for a late lunch around 3p. A total of 3 of us in there. Service was friendly and attentive. Ordered the Oktoberfest beer, wedge salad, and BLT. Very satisfying meal. The bacon on the BLT was thick and easy to bite into. Wedge salad had a balsamic drizzle that I liked. Also loved the fries. Crunchy outside, fluffy inside.

Stopped in before a show, perfect timing. The staff was awesome and very attentive. I ordered the salmon, it was perfect, with brussel sprouts and risotto(amazing). The homemade Pesto was amazing, the taste of fresh pine nuts, with the perfect amount of basil and garlic. I would say my meal was one of the best I've had in a while. They have a great selection of specialized burgers( one person in our party had one and claimed it too was awesome) and tacos, so you don't have to break the bank eating here. Would have loved to have tried dessert but I was way too full. Will return again!

Great burgers. This was a great surprise! What a wonderful gem. I was not expecting such amazing flavors. The beer cheese burger was amazing. It was a great flavor in the beer cheese sauce, not bland like a lot of places. The best bit burger was amazing aswell.

We just went here Sunday night for a birthday dinner. We had 8 people. The food was really amazing, the atmosphere (aside from the drunk lady dropping f bombs left and right) was great. People were friendly and the best part was our waitress was really really phenomenal (no I don’t know her). It was so refreshing to have such a great dining experience. We will definitely be coming back!

The omelet was good and the burrito was enormous! Service was friendly and good. The saloon was half full when we stopped in for a late breakfast. Tables are well spaced to give a spacious feeling. Prices were comparable to other restaurants. We liked it and will return especially since they serve breakfast until 2 pm. The lunch menu looks good, too.

Had the prime rib and smashed potatoes and my man had the po boy. Excellent job by the chef. He even came to our table to double check our food order! The atmosphere was really cowboy good. I would have loved to have been there on dance night! Good job on everything. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the servers and the chef. Thank you for giving us a great end to our vacation.

High Horse is one of my favorite places. It's for everyone of all ages. Its has some of the best food in town and the nices service people. Their breakfast is a one meal deal good luck getting all that good food in. There dinners compete with any other restaurant in town. I've always had great meals and never complained about the prices. You get a lot and always leave full. Naps recommended after meals lol

Great food, great service. The coffee is delicious. Plenty of seating. The mimosas are a fantastic complement to any breakfast. Bit of a country vibe, but nothing over the top. It is our go to breakfast joint. The parking lot leaves a bit to be desired, but once inside, you quickly forget about it.

I actually really liked the staggering ox. It's a unique twist on a sandwich shop that's entertaining and pretty tasty. I tried the S.O.B. and it was pretty good! The only thing I wish they had is like, plates to catch my crumbs haha. Also, as a side note, the staff are all friendly and funny they all were cracking jokes and seemed to enjoy working there, which I like to see! I will be back to try more food from them!

Overall I like coming here the food is usually very good. It usually has a nice atmosphere with friendly staff. On my last visit (8/11/23) sadly the food and service wasn't up to the usual snuff. The food was very slow to get to the table and it wasn't really worth the wait either. Dry crunchy rice isn't what I usually get here. Hopefully just an off day for the kitchen.

Okay, why have I not tried this place before?? Great food, amazing service! They went above and beyond super helpful, they seen I was struggling with my drinks they offered me a drink carrier. The atmosphere was great as well. Cost wise surprisingly affordable for the level of quality ingredients and the quantity. What a well rounded Gem of Billings!!!

We celebrated a very elegant 21st anniversary. This atmosphere was definitely out of our casual comfort zone but we enjoyed our experience here immensely. Set in an old colonial stable, this restaurant is very intimate. The dining rooms are quaint and small. There were only 5 or 6 tables in the room we were seated. Elegantly set tables, beautiful, enormous windows finely dressed, and I was enamored by the massive ornate fireplace set in the back of the room. Soft smooth jazz played in the background and the conversations of the other diners were barely audible at the lowest of murmurs. We couldn't help but nervously giggle whisper throughout our meal because the atmosphere felt so formal. It was kind of silly fun for us. SO MANY FORKS! lol We were first served complimentary sushi after being seated. It didn't stand apart from any other sushi we've had but was very good. Next a warm, fresh baked loaf of bread accompanied with infused olive oil was brought to our table along with the wine list. The bread & oil were the only things we were slightly saddened over. The bread while perfectly baked, warm and so soft on the inside and thin, crispy, flaky crust, fell flat on flavor as did the infused oil. Honestly just tasted like plain olive oil. We did choose to order a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon and it was fabulous. Next we were served an amazingly fresh and flavorful arugula salad, dressed with a roasted walnut and apple vinaigrette, and topped with crushed walnuts and apple slices. Another taste sensation. For starters we chose the softshell crab and alligator tail. Absolutely devine! I had never tried softshell crab and I was over the moon! The alligator tail was fantastic as well. Cooked perfectly, flaky and tender, tasted fantastic. For our main courses my husband chose the grilled shutome (sword fish) topped with a tomato, lemon butter and caper sauce. It was perfection. The mashed potatoes were surprising, literally the best we've ever had. They were creamy and fluffy and smooth all at once. The steamed vegetables were just that, no butter or seasoning to be noticed, but we're the perfect balance of tender and crisp. The purple coleslaw wasn't for us but only because we truly are not fans of any slaw. I had the veal and spinach cannelloni with sauteed mushrooms. The veal was shredded, tender and full flavored, the spinach was perfectly steamed, and the 5 cheese alfredo sauce was so rich and silky. I loved every bite. The sauteed mushrooms were delicious as well. Our server was very professional, attentive, efficient and informative. She was very adept at her craft and made us feel at ease. All the courses came out at an appropriate speed and for all the food we were served, and a bottle of wine our bill was just over $100 before tip which we found very reasonable. We left with a piece of key lime cheesecake to go. Later we shared in the hotel room. It was very very good. We definitely will keep this restaurant in mind the next time we celebrate a special occasion.

This is a very cozy restaurant, located inside of a former home. I both love and hate the layout of the restaurant for this reason. We were sested in a former bedroom upstairs, with 3 tables in the room. There was one other table occupied at the time. There is no music playing or background noise, and because of this, the room is very quiet, and you can hear every word another table says. In my opinion, this is not as romantic of a setting and not as personal for your tables' conversation. That being said, the food is among the best presented in billings. I ordered the swordfish, and my date got the quail. The food was very good and presented beautifully. The bread they serve with the table is so good, it is hard to save room for the meal! Overall, I really enjoyed this restaurant, and I would love to see some music in there to boost the atmosphere, making it 5 stars all around.

The best food I've found in Billings. This chef cares about quality, creativity, and presentation. A true pro. Unfortunately, I should warn you about the service. Our server had all the grace and finesse of a greasy spoon waitress, slinging hash. We walked up and heard someone holler, "Reservation?" The place was empty. Why not just seat us? We asked for a recommendation? "It's all good." She asked how we wanted our salmon prepared, "Medium Well?" When did salmon start getting served any other way but cooked? Then she served the salmon with steak knives. The day I need a steak knife for salmon is going to be a bad day. She's a pro server, but not in fine dining, which this place definitely is. It's too bad that as great as the food was, I can't give five stars.

If you’re accustomed to excellent food you won’t go wrong here. I’m from Sonoma County California (I’m not moving here, I promise! Don’t hate me!) I say this not because I’m picky (I’m not) but I AM incredibly spoiled with good food. This meal was the highlight of my trip. And while I know you’re not supposed to order seafood in a landlocked state, you can rest assured that the Chef absolutely knows what he’s doing and clearly has a source for fresh fish. Absolutely give this place a visit if you’re in Billings. Heck, make the trip if you’re in Montana.

Better than expected. I had high hopes based off other reviews but was a bit disappointed with the variety when I saw the initial menu. It reminded me of a bunch of unimaginative surf and turf shops. I went with the Bison Hash and was quite happy with the choice. So overall, better than average but probably wouldn’t make it into my Billings top ten. Also quite a ways from downtown. Probably a good spot for anyone who lives within a mile where other options are particularly spartan. Average service and atmosphere for the price. Probably pricier than average for the area. Quality/price is probably closer to high three star for area.

Tucked in a shopping plaza right next to a casino... Exceptional place! Great service, very good food and a nice setting. The short ribs were a little chewy but everything else we had was decadent! The peanut butter dessert was light, fluffy and just the right amount of sweetness. They have an outside setting as well! I would recommend!

I typically don’t leave reviews but enjoyed my experience so much I wanted to share. I had some time to kill, sat at the bar, got the crab cakes and a beer. Thought at first it was too loud being so close to the kitchen but the chef was entertaining. It was his conversation with his staff… in the chaos, he was very complimentary to all of them, making them laugh and at the same time very efficient. I appreciate that! And the food was good!

Setting: really cool looking place that fits both laid back and fancy. Service: our waiter was nice and didn’t over step in any way and knew the special by memory. It did kind of feel like they wondered why we were there not exactly the friendliest. Food: some really creative combinations and fresh veggies. The burger had great taste until you got to the meat. The beef dried everything out in your mouth as you chewed but the pickled cucumbers and whipped cheese and bacon were great the beef was just dry. The hummus plate was fresh!

Had a nice family dinner at the Windmill a couple of days ago. The service was excellent, the food was excellent! Would definitely recommend the chicken fried steak, the chicken Alfredo and the finger steaks. Updated 8/13/22 Sadly I feel I need to update this review to a 3 out of 5 stars. We were there for a birthday today and had a few issues with the service, atmosphere and food. First I'd like to say I appreciate the chutzpah it takes to be a live singer. However for what ever reason the live music was out of tune and bad. As far as the food is concerned I found it to be a bit salty. Our waitress, while friendly, wasn't around very much. We never got refills on any drinks and we weren't offered a desert menu at the end of our visit. We went elsewhere for desert.

The service was so good. Our waiter was a young man that was prompt and so energetic about his job with a great sense of humor. He was so patient with our 3 kids who had been on the lake all day and were cranky and tired. We left a hearty tip because he deserved it. Food and drinks were excellent too. I highly recommend the blackened chicken alfredo. An older gentleman even came up and gave my kids 50 cent pieces and gold dollars. Such a kind man. Definitely recommend this place. 👌
