This is hands down the best Japanese food I’ve eaten in my LIFE. It all tasted so good and fresh and the host was such a lovely person. She showed us how to open the ramune bottles, chatted with us, she even made me a little origami flower🥰 the food was so delicious!! They were out of sushi the day we were there so I look forward to try the sushi in a few weeks when I’m back in Watford😇

I’ve come here twice now and both times have been great. Had the large board of sushi, it was beautiful presented and tasted really fresh, a great selection range to pick at and share with the family. We all had a bowl of ramen to finish our meal which was very filling. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a Japanese place to eat on the high street!

Lovely family run Japanese small restaurant, very homely vibe. Been a couple of times in the past couple of months, and both times, food was great. Chicken katsu curry was lovely. I tried my fellow diners' food and can say it was all delicious. The food was also very satisfying for one of the slightly fussy vegetarian amongst us. It's a small place, so expect a bit of wait if they are busy with takeout orders. The lady at the front of the house is very attentive despite how busy she gets. Would definitely recommend this place, and come back regularly to get my fix of Japanese food in Watford.

Decent enough Japanese place with average food and prices. Service wasn’t great though. Took almost an hour to get order in and get the food, which came at over 15/20mins later than first dish served. Just seemed really slow even for something like katsu curry. And would suggest no need with the elaborate decorations around the food and keep it simple and efficient. Not sure would go back in a hurry.

Tried sushi & ramen here for the first time today and it was delicious. They squeezed us in as a very popular place and we did wait a little while for food but so worth the wait. Will definitely visit again!

I have been eating at Sushi No Mai since they were in the old Watford Market place. It's always such a treat for all my visits. Staff are friendly and food is delicious. Sadly, the head chef who made sushi and sashimi passed away about 6 months ago hence the shorter menu. There are fresh sashimi salmon and tuna if you are after sashimi. The usual cooked dishes like Katsu curry, Tempura, Ramen, Teriyaki don and lunch special bento are still available and delicious. The waiting time is longer than usual so be patient with the new adjusted team. If you fancy some authentic Japanese food, Sushi No Mai is the place for you!!!

I love this place but I'm a bit gutted as they don't seem to have sushi take away anymore. I totally understand that this was down to the sad passing of one of the owners. I will continue to check back and hope they start again soon

Simply the best Japanese food I ever had in my life. Call it a Sushi place it's diminishing, and their hot dishes are amazing. Katzu Curry, Noodles and Teriyaki chicken are my favourites. If you really want to find something that isn't perfect, you could say that the place it's little and not comfortable, but this doesn't impact on final judgement. This is a five star, and now that I leave far from Watford I actually miss this place. Prices way lower than quality offered.

I went to eat at this restaurant on June 19, 2023. Had my likes and dislikes. My sister ordered the full ribs for £25.75 and it came out good. While I ordered the the ultimate american grill, mixed grill, which was a £29.50 it came out too dry, some pieces of meat are very hard.

The food is good, I would give them that. They have good ribs in here. I wasn’t able to enjoy the food though because of how a particular staff treated us, she was so curt and rude she shouldn’t be working in the service industry. That ruined the whole experience for me. I was happy to have lunch there because of the things we’ve been through the past couple of days, but I couldn’t even enjoy the ribs I ordered. The nice man who switched places with her is kind and attentive, but that server really ruined the meal for me. I would give the service 2 stars but that man saved it.

Came in tonight food was dreadful. I used to love TGI Fridays. But today was just awful. Never had such a dry and burnt burger. Even the chips were dry like they had been sitting under a heatlamp for ages. For the price being charged you would be better going to Mc Donald's. Even the chicken strips were dry and hard as a rock. Wouldn't recommend and definitely won't be returning.

Our Watford dining experience was a major letdown. We had high hopes for our £30 meal, but it was overshadowed by the presence of burnt food. If you happen to have a preference for dishes with a charred flavor profile, this might align with your taste. However, for us, it was a disappointing occurrence that cast a shadow over the entire evening. Our excitement for a delicious meal quickly deflated as plates with charred edges and overcooked portions were placed before us. It became evident that the kitchen had not maintained the quality we had heard about. The burnt food not only impacted the taste but also the texture, leaving us with a sense of regret for choosing this restaurant. What could have been an enjoyable evening turned into a frustrating experience. We couldn't help but wonder if the staff had noticed the charred state of the dishes they were serving. The overpowering burnt flavors made it challenging to appreciate any subtleties in the cooking. Considering the reputation of the establishment, our expectations were far from met. It's disheartening when a dining experience falls so short of one's expectations, especially after investing both time and money into it. At £30, we had hoped for a meal that would leave us satisfied and content, but sadly, it was quite the opposite. In conclusion, if you have a preference for burnt food, this restaurant might align with your taste. However, if you're seeking a dining experience that lives up to its price tag and reputation, Watford might not be the best choice. Our disappointment with the burnt food overshadowed any positives, leaving us feeling regretful about our dining decision that evening.

What a night at this place. Staffs are friendly and food was prepared within 15 minutes of ordering. Ambience is great and they’ve all types of alcohol you could ask for. Do check it out. Good news for me is that I can order online whenever Im lazy.

Food was really lovely-can’t fault that. Service-not so much. Staff were polite but more than one person waiting your table is a little over baring. Shown to a table then told to move as we were 2 and explained it was for 4..we were well aware but were told to sit there! Tried to push bigger/more expensive drinks saying they didn’t hear the 1st time. Offered a free shot. I wasn’t what was chosen. Still eating our meal and 3 times someone came over to say are you finished - the restaurant wasn’t busy at this point. Also not too happy there is a compulsory 12% tip. A tip and how big it is is a choice. Especially when just a table of 2 and if you are going to make it compulsory, you want to make sure your service is top-notch! We won’t be back for this reason unfortunately.

The MOST authentic Indian food north of London! I’ve visited the area three or four times but haven’t found somewhere as such good value where the service has been there to match! If you’re lucky enough to get a table, ask for AK, he made us feel like we were truly valued! 10/10

The staff and ambience is great. The food is average and below my expectations for the Cote. Ordered a flat white coffee and eggs Florentine. Coffey tasted okay but presentation was below what most coffee houses provide. The Eggs were lacking in taste and the hollandaise sauce was bland.

Excellent surprise with this place . They have a great value lunch meal 15£ for starter and main before 7pm and it’s well worth it . No substitute on the quality. Soup and salad were excellent , sea bass was one of the best I had in a long time and truffle chips were just the way I liked them. Bread and olives were very tidy too . Only negatives are - the croutons in the salad are not ok and sliding the olives and bread into the bill without notification was abit of a surprise. Because we was offered bread like it was complimentary. However ! Excellent place to go and will defiantly go again, worth every £

Came here on a Sunday morning for brunch with my 6 year old son for a vegetarian big breakfast. My first visit here and was deciding between this place or second visit to Cassio Lounge. I couldn’t fault the staff, they were friendly and helpful and the ambience was good. The food however, I’m sorry to say was poor. I was expecting a yokey fired egg (not dried and shrivelled up). The potato fritte was a shameful stingy small size and and the breakfast was missing baked beans (which they don’t serve). I get that this is a French restaurant but by no means was this a better standard than something non-French. I genuinely expected better. My son didn’t like his vegan burger but ok that’s him, I thought it was ok with the chips. The start croquettes with salmon was also poor and I struggled to see or taste any salmon. Unlikely I’ll eat here again. I left feeling hungry and unsatisfied. Ed the manager was really good and acknowledged the feedback and offered to discount the croquettes which I appreciated.

I we buy two large rice and get just one as both were half empty, they cheated and did not sell what is on the website, missing half of the food, not recommended they cheated when my husband does not look at what they doing, as he looks at the shishi. It's disgust. They charge more for large and give small.

This is my first time at a Japanese fast food restaurant, and I had a good experience. The place suited my vegan daughter and her two children. I was delighted by the beautiful display of the rolls and sushi trays. The grandchildren really enjoyed the miso soup and seaweed salad. I chose a box of a large and tasty combination. The price was cheap and the food was delicious. The noodle portion was average.

Went to Watford Palace Theatre 🎭 just before the production popped into this place get some food. Not very busy got served quickly the cashier was helpful. The food was ok had sweet Chilli with rice (the regular box) the box full and good value for money £7.75 but the 500ml bottle of Coke was an eye watering £1.99 spice level for the chicken was medium hot not sure if I would have it again.

Was looking forward to the place but turned out to be a massive disappointment and at 29.99 per person you're better off going elsewhere. So you get a buffet option and they come round cutting the meat in front of you.. almost every cut of the meat is extremely salty. The buffet option is another major let down you don't get much meat options and it's very carb heavy food and yet again salty food. For a Friday evening the place was so empty. Service and atmosphere couldn't really fault it but the food was massively let down.

I visited on a Saturday and the place was 70% occupied, so not too busy. You can reserve online as well. Lots of paid parking Around so you'll never have a problem. Nice background music. Very helpful and friendly staff and they do their job very professionally. Air con was on and it was a good atmosphere overall. The open buffet items were fresh and delicious, rice, fried and baked potatoes, plantain and many other vegetarian and vegan options were available. Cold salads and sauces were also amazing. The meat is halal. No pork in any of the dishes. The meat included lamb, sausages, garlic beef, pepper beef, and ribs, some chicken options as well. Overall, nothing was less than a 9/10 but my favourite were the lamb and the ribs. Oh and the pineapples were so so good.

We have been looking for a halal Brazilian buffet for a very long time, and we have been so fortunate to find it in Watford. A place that deserves future visits. Thanks to Francisco and his team.

Just had a very nice buffet dinner here for the first time! There were lots of different types of meat, all of which were delicious and high quality. The service is very friendly and attentive. There's also plenty of cocktails to choose from too. I would recommend coming here if you're in Watford and very hungry!!
