We've been here a couple of times and enjoy this nicely hidden restaurant. It is a very quiet place, so you can easily have a conversation without too many people yelling over you. I really enjoyed the saxophone player who plays every day - probably gets a break somewhere, hahaha. Our group ordered pizzas and really enjoyed sharing them between us. The waitress seemed to be covering too many tables, but did a great job working through the orders and bills. We'll be back for sure. Thanks.

We called the restaurant during the day, and a reservation for 17 people was possible, for just one hour before closing time. Thank you very much for that. Also the food (we had pizza and steaks) was really really good! The owner of the restaurant and the chef we‘re open to talk and we had a lot of fun during the evening. Can definitely recommend!

Nice idea, NY memorabilia but turned out to be a bit simple. Food was covered in dill, so if you don't like dill you're in trouble. We had the mushroom soup (dill taste) Prawn Pasta was also covered in dill. Shame really. I had higher expectations. Sorry Good Father

I chose this restaurant specially for my boyfriends birthday and we were not disappointed. Menu has nice selection of seafood options and also meat and other things. Prices are reasonable and atmosphere is cozy and fancy at the same time. Dishes were great - for mains we ordered venison burger and teriyaki salmon which were very nice. I have never had so good salmon before for such reasonable price. I recommend booking the table before - we went on Monday evening and it was still fully booked. Service was bit poor - they were fast but waitresses seemed to be in a rush all the time and no one made sure how we feel or do we like the food or if we wanted anything more to drink. Also she forgot to bring butter with the bread. Overall experience was nice and can totally recommend.

Fantastic 1st lunch in Latvia. Started with a couple of draft beers while trying to choose from the imaginative menu. Everything, from our avocado with berries & camembert starters to my perch with pea puree & walnuts and his melt in your mouth pork dish with sweet potato was 5* excellent. Outstanding flavors perfectly prepared. Bravo!

Consistently good food and service. We have been coming for years. It’s one reliable place in the Old Town which we know always meets the expectations. The place is relatively small and gets busy at peak times so I’d recommend booking in advance. Last time we went for lunch a couple weeks ago and had the trout salad, the salmon ( or trout?) tartar, the venison burger, the sturgeon fillet, and the confit duck. The food was great, the service was very friendly. We also like the setting and simple yet lovely interior of this restaurant.

We were having dinner outside. We seem to have been at the "forgotten table". Everyone around us, even those arriving later, had finished their dinner before we could even start (food was served roughly an hour after taking our seats). The food was great, when it eventually arrived. The filled avocados were super tasteful and the burger was really nice with the cheese sauce. We're not sure about the salad's combination coming with it (felt like a brainstorming of ingredients).

This place has become a tourist trap - the ingredients are of the very cheapest quality. For brunch, they serve macaroni cheese and random vegetables covered in mayonnaise. Coffee is €4.5 - and it’s one of the worst coffees I have had in Riga (and I live here!!). A super basic brunch that doesn’t get refilled is €20 each, same as lunch in one of the best restaurants in the city. It’s very sad- La Kanna is an overpriced place with very poor food and disappointing service. I hope people start realizing that the food is awful and start going to the new places appearing that offer at least decent value.

I really enjoyed the visit to this restaurant! The interior was so beautiful and cozy, and I thoroughly enjoyed how friendly the waiters were (they spoke all the languages: Latvian, Russian or English) and I got such great suggestions on food! I feel like service in Latvia can typically be not really friendly, but it was an exception here. I felt so welcomed, and the food of course was really fresh and beautifully presented. Will definitely be going again ❤️

Very nice restaurant that is well presented. The food service is slow but it’s great for a relaxed dinner of socializing. The food is well presented, very fresh and well done. The appetizer and cheese plate is a great way to start while awaiting your main course. The wine list is great and the waiter made nice suggestions - we really enjoyed a cremant ours suggested. Desserts are also delicious and well presented. All in all, I would definitely return when I’m back in Riga!

Good steak, but have had better for 30 euro. Was just a touch over cooked, should have been more red. Also miss a grill taste. But all in all a quite good experience. Service was good, but did mistakes like giving water to my friend, but not to me even if my glass was also nearly empty. They also forgot the wine for my friend that he had ordered. There is potential for becoming better.

We found this place by accident. And what a nice surprise it was. Food was super delicious although somewhat limited vegan options. The chef was able to whip up some vege extras for our kids. Hope they can offer more vegan options in future. The bread starters were yummy. The local beers suggestions were excellent. The decor inside was definitely very unique but we like the busy and tasteful display. Service a bit slow but manageable. Reasonably priced. Recommended!

Easily one of the best places in Riga. Delicious food, wonderful staff, and the cutest decor. I had the fettuccini pasta with zucchini and other veggies, and honestly I had no idea I could get so much joy just from chewing on the zucchini and mini tomatoes alone. Can a single vegetable be cooked to such perfection, to such an ideal point that it alone is mouth-watering? Apparently, yes! Combined into a full dish, I couldn’t get enough. Also, my mom and I are consistently very impressed with the unique, appetizing flavour combinations from the salads on the appetizer menu (first page). We’ve been coming here for the past few years. Highly highly highly recommend!

This place is incredible! We had two absolutely amazing starters; steak tar tar and caramelized goat cheese with pesto grilled veggies. The beef cheeks were so so so delicious… like insane!!!!! Also the butter assortment that cane with all the varying types of bread was top tier! The dish that let us down was the steak with scallops. We were expecting a perfectly cooked medium rare steak but instead received a well done steak stuffed with bland scallops. The staff was so gracious as we sent it back asking for it to be cooked med rare. However, since they cut the steak and stuff it, it does not cook even and when it came back there was rare parts and fully cooked parts. I think this was just done wrong as the flavors were on point! Nonetheless this is an amazing restaurant I recommend highly! They also offered is complimentary chamomile ice cream for the mistake!

No complaints and would definitely further recommend this restaurant. For 3 people we paid 90euros but we ate so much. From the drinks to the salad or the main dishes, we were all very satisfied. Our waiter was suprr friendly and helpful and the interior of the restaurant is really nice with all the rooster decoration.

We visited this restaurant in Rjga in Octber 2023. The menu had only a small choice of dishes local to Latvia. It was absolutely lovely food, very simple but extremely tasty and great value for money. The soup.in a bread bowl was very substantial and tasty. The pork and cabbage in the photo was the best thing I ate on our holiday there. Booking is advised.

We had a wonderful dinner here. Lovely local dishes on the menu - I was especially happy with the pea soup served in a bread bowl. The pork roast and the pancakes with salmon tartare were also really nice. And the dessert from rye bread, creme chantilly and fruit preserve brought back childhood memories for me, as my grandmother used to make something similar. The service was very friendly and attentive and my wife and me left happy, feeling we had a good intro to Latvian delights. Recommend this place wholeheartedly.

The environment of the restaurant is clean. Otherwise, everything is a big disappointment. We had a 7 course dinner and a wine package. The first thing we asked was if we wanted bread, for which we were billed, which became clear only from the receipt. The bread was thawed in the microwave. The parmesan in the portions is not parmesan. Ravioli was a finished product. They serve frozen meals and ready meals, which they modify a bit themselves. In the wine package, we didn't know what we were drinking. Wine was brought to the table by the glass and the country of origin and grape were told. We never saw the bottles. Avoid this place!

Asked for whisky sour, got something that is in the picture. The dishes were simple and not tasty. Asked for balsamic vinegar to make a dish a little bit more tasty, they could not provide it. So used ketchup and mayonnaise. Possible chef was busy with hockey watching or something else. This was the worst experience in Riga so far.

Very according and excellent service. But of course we came for the food. We got 7 course tasting menu which was delicious with large portions. The only minus, streak was a bit tough. We also had wine partying which was extremely well composed. Definitely a must to visit for any food traveler.
